Hello everyone,

I am a newby with cybersyncs, just received my CST and 2 CSRBs yesterday. I am able to fire my Sb-800 speedlight...but seem unable to trigger my Sb-900. The receiver is in perfect working order because I can switch receivers and they both fire the Sb-800. So I know that I am not in the appropriate mode with the Sb-900. Any assistance would be appreciated!!!

I am not familiar with the SB-900 but from my experience, all speed lights that are non-PCB mono units need to be set on manual mode and adjusted manualy. Hope that helps

I have set my Sb-900 on manual mode, adjusted power settings, and still can't get it to fire. The only way I can fire this strobe is if I use nikon's CLS system and set the strobe to SU-4 mode. I can trigger the Sb-800 and when it pops the Sb-900 pops as well (SU-4 mode). I have tried for several hours playing around with the settings but still no luck...I am sure that I am blind to the solution but I have a hard time believing that the CSRB+ can't trigger the Sb-900...it certainly can with the Sb-800 in manual mode.

Hello all,

I finally figured it out, after developing a massive headache...and a little pointer from RMS.

The SB-900 must be set as MASTER and in Manual Mode. I was simply turning it ON and in Manual Mode. Go figure!

I fire my SB-900 in remotely with the power/mode switch in the on position. I'm not sure why this didn't work for you? Master is no different except that the flash is sending control pre-flashes to fire other speedlights.

I was playing around with the SB-900 yesterday...and I realized that the PC connection was loose on the flash. It worked only when I either pressed in more or put pressure in a certain way on the connector itself. Consequently I have ordered from flashzebra.com some screw mounted 3.5mm PC connectors. Thanks for your Reply.

Here is a trick for using the SB-800.
Don't know if it applies to the SB-900 as I don't have that unit.
Put the SB-800 into SU-4 mode instead of manual and trigger it using the radio slave.
SU-4 will activate the ready beep sound that you will not hear in manual mode. :)
