I'm having trouble using a PCB Large Foldable Octabox on my B400/B800's. I putting the Octa on a boom arm horizontally and trying to tighten the stand mount screw (that tightens on the stand stud) tight enough to hold the light and octabox at a 45 deg. angle or so (i.e., not pointed down on the ground, but 45 degrees off center). The screw on the stand mount keeps slipping. I can tighten it down sometimes and it will stay, but it often slides due to the torque. Is there any replacement stand mount or thumb screw that I could use? Thanks. |

One trick that I use is to file down one side of the pin that the flash head attaches to. Also, If you have a boom that lets you mount the pin at a right angle, then you can make the flash go up and down instead of to the side. Finally, mounting the flash hanging below the pole instead of above causes less leverage. Robin |

Thanks, filing down isn't really an option when I'm renting the studio (and boom). But it's a good thought. The right angle idea isn't an option for the Avenger mini boom that I use at the studio. I'm also hanging the flash below the pole already. Any other ideas, anyone? |

Perhaps you could apply some gaffers tape to increase friction. Additionally, if room permits, taping something to the post to keep it from being perfectly circular. There is no other mounting block. |

Sounds to me like you need an Avenger E700 drop down pin (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1 ... _Down.html). That's what I use with my Avenger mini boom. It will allow the flash to hang inverted below the boom arm while retaining the desired orientation: ![]() Dave F. |

Excellent! Didn't even know they made such a thing as a drop-down pin. I'm ordering one today. |
