My new VML "boots" almost instantly and shows full power. My older ones slowly go through the power check. What's the difference?

Just as I was writing this I went to take the old one off the stand and noticed that the plastic has cracked near the tripod mount. How much is going to cost to repair? I need it right away (that why I just ordered my 3rd). What is the repair turnaround on these?

Damn, both of my units have the same problem - the metal stand mount has cracked the case.

Does someone make a better mounting solution?

There was a minor component change that now has an instant fuel gauge. The behavior of your units sounds normal.

Off the top of my head, I do not know the pricing of the housing repair. I will need to get back to you Monday after we reopen.

To elaborate on Tech Support, the speed change between older and newer VML only applies to how fast the battery indicator responds, and has nothing to do with when the unit is ready. Both VML types are instantly ready.

The cracked housing would be covered under the $50 diagnostic fee. This includes return shipping within the U.S.

About a week in house, right now, though this can vary some.
