Will the Paul C. Buff™ Speedring / Cage Assembly work with most umbrellas from other manufacturers?

i have a ton of umbrellas (shoot through and reflective) and I was wondering if it will work with those umbrellas (some have hollow shafts, some have solid shafts).

It looks like the umbrella shafts are closer to 7mm than to 8mm ( abit hard to measure for me).

Unfortunately I don't have any PLM's yet.

Thanks in advance.

no, there is no way to attach a regular umbrella to a speedring cage. But any umbrella will fit the umbrella holder tube of your light. Also, just any ol' umbrella would not greatly benefit from using the cage like a silver PLM (more so the Extreme Silver than the Soft Silver).

Thank you.

the reason I asked is because the speedring cage looked like it could do double duty as an umbrella reflector (i.e., preventing direct light from the flash tube from exiting out toward the back of the light).

But I figured that would then block the normal umbrella hole.
