I have two Einstein 640s and a Mini TT1 and Flex TT5 (I got these based on some recommendation somewhere since the MC2 was no longer being sold due to safety concerns). I've used this set up once before, about a year ago. I have the cables to connect everything. I tried to set it up today and it won't work. This is what I did:

Mini TT1 in hot shoe of 5D Mark III. Cable from camera to Flex TT5 camera port. Another cable from Flex TT5 flash port to Einstein sync port. Both are on C1. Einstein showing No RF in the Channel/Zone areas and it won't let me adjust. When I press the shutter, the strobes don't fire.

What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Specific settings will need to be discussed with Pocket Wizard, as we are only superficially familiar with them. However, You say you have a transmitter in the hotshoe AND a cable running to the receiver. Having the cable run from the camera to the light defeats the purpose of the radio remotes. No cable is necessary from the camera, only between the TT5 and light.

The Einstein will show NO RF, as there is not a module plugged into the top of the flash, either CSXCV or MC2. This is not indicative of any problem in your set up.

There may be an issue of different channels between the two devices. This will need to be addressed in the PocketWizard software.

I am about to purchase a Einstein and I too have the TT1 Flex TT5 system. What cable do I need to go from the PW TT5's to the Einstein? I am also looking at a Vagabond mini to power the Einstein. Is there any cables I need to purchase to go from the strobe to the battery? Lastly I am looking at a Westcott modifier. Do I get the speedring from Paul C. Buff store or from Westcott?

Thank you!

We recommend our CSSC cord, but a 3.5 to 3.5 mono, non-attenuating cord will work. http://www.paulcbuff.com/cssc.php

No special cord is required, though we do offer a shorter cord if desired. VM-UPC3-120V http://www.paulcbuff.com/powercords.php

The modifier company should have a speedring to fit our lights, though our LGSR will fit many major brands of softboxes. http://www.paulcbuff.com/speedrings.php
