I've got an AB400, CSR, and CST. This is the second day of use and the unit has completely died.
I have power (red rocker switch is illuminated) but nothing else. No LEDs, no modeling lamp, no test fire, no nothing. Thankfully I was 3/4 of the way through my shoot when it died. Am I overlooking something simple? Did I get a bum unit? Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I bypassed the CSR and plugged unit into wall... still nothing)
Thanks

Looks like you had an early failure of the AB. This occurs with everything made, in varying degrees.

If you look at the various forums a lot, like I do, you will see occasional reports of similar occurrences with all flash units including the most expensive imports.

Studies I looked at places this rate at between 2% and 7%, depending on complexity, with computer products being the highest, with ABs below 2%.

If you call or email Paul C. Buff, Inc we will replace it quickly with no fuss or excuses.

Sorry

Called on Monday - Received replacement unit on Thursday. I couldn't be happier with the service I've gotten from this company. Awesome job all around!

and that is exactly the reason I'm getting my Einstein new from PCB instead of bidding on the unit on Ebay at the moment. For one the PCB stuff sells used for 85-90 percent of retail on there anyway, and I prefer to have the warranty as well for issues like stated right here. I do wish PCB was able to list their new stuff on Ebay and make enough profit because I have been using the Paypal credit 6 months no interest offer to purchase several items (digital piano, quality tripod, etc...) and getting it interest free over a period of a few months to pay makes the deal that much sweeter.... If it was offered on Ebay from PCB I'd have jumped on it long ago, but now i need to make sure I can pay the entire cc bill in full when it arrives in the mail, so that has been my delay in my Einstein purchase.....
