I recently bumped my head into the beauty dish attached to my e640 and everything popped and the flash stopped working at all.

I pulled both the modeling lamp and the flash tube and replaced the fuse. It powered back up without issue. Next I re-inserted the modeling lamp and it powered up again but the lamp itself won't work. Next I put the flash tube back in and powered up the flash and everything there is popping as it should.

So I need to replace that bulb for the modeling lamp but when I tried to remove the modeling bulb the second time, the bayonet mount that the bulb sits in is just spinning. I'm unable to remove the bulb now.

Of course this is about 3 weeks out of the 2 year warranty so I'm wondering if this is something I can fix myself? I'm pretty handy and not afraid to attempt it on my own and worst case, if I can't accomplish it myself, I can always send it in but I would like advice from folks who are more familiar with the guts of these things.

Thanks for your time and advice,

joel.

We can't advise how to service the internals of the light. However, I would recommend calling our repair department and double checking the warranty status (your light may not be as old as you think ;) ) as well as discussing any repair costs.

Joel, did you figure out how to fix your einstein without sending it in? I'm having the same problem now.
