I want to use an extension cord along with my Vagabond II and my Einstein's. Do I need a certain gauge wire ( I've seen heavy duty cords listed as 12 or 14 gauge)? I'm planning on using 50ft or maybe 100 ft cords, depending on the situation. |

12 or 14 gauge would be best. |

Just bought the 25ft 16 gauge and thought that would be better for longer cable ? |

I dunno why....I don't make the rules, but the SMALLER the gauge number, the LARGER the wire. So your 16 gauge is SMALLER then TS's recommended 12 - 14 gauge. Having said that 25 ft isn't too long an extension cord, and it's not like you're running a 100 amp welder, so I wouldn't imagine you'd have too many issues. Here we rate extension leads by current, 7.5amps being "light duty", 10 amps being "standard" and 15 amps being "heavy duty". Sounds like you've got the equivalent of our 7.5 amp lead, I would of brought the 10 amp one, but I'd be happy with the 7.5 amp too, it's thinner, lighter and easier to carry around :D !! AB. |

I've tested both 25' 16AWG and 50' 16AWG extension cords seperately as well as together=75', along with the 15' 18AWG stock cord for one Einstein hooked up to the Vagabond II, along with another WL strobe with no issues. RMS |
