yerp. to attach it you'll need to use the base that came with it to screw onto the thread on top like how you would onto a tripod. if you wanted to use it with an umbrella, you'd have to buy an umbrella adapter elsewhere from someplace like b&h. |

Many folks don't realize the black cap comes off the tip, revealing a 1/4-20 thread, which is a standard thread size in photo products. This thread will screw into the bottom of the ministand included with most flashes. As said above, to get full articulation, you will need an umbrella mount from Flash Zebra, B&H, and the like. |

Would an umbrella mount make it to where it could mount things such as octa, and soft boxes? Sorry for all the questions, i'm new, ha. |

not with our softboxes. there are some designed for speedlites that could utilize the umbrella bracket. These brackets are a swivel with a hole to put an umbrela rod through. |
