I just received my CST and CSRB and the CST doesn't seem to be receiving any signal from the D90. It's attached to a B1600. The D90 has the flash set to manual and full.

Here is the trouble shooting I've done to figure out whats wrong:

The test button on the CST fires the B1600. Which means that It's likely not an issue with the batteries or any setting on the cst and csrb.

I attached an sb600 to the hotshoe of my D90 and it fires(So I'm confident it's not the hotshoe on the D90).

The only problem I can think of is that the hotshoe connection on the CST is bad. I've looked at the pin on the bottom and it doesn't seem to protrude very much. However I don't know if it's supposed to.

Any ideas?

I just tried it on my D70 and it's firing. The contact point on the d70 is flush with the hotshoe but the d90's contact point is a little bit recessed. Is the pin on the bottom of the cst supposed to be springy or stationary?

The CST camera contact is spring loaded.

Try pushing down on the CST when attepting to take a photo. Also, are you in live view mode by chance?

The camera contact on my CST is stationary. I tried pushing down and I'm not in live view. I successfully fired it from my D70s. The D70s' contact is flush with the bottom of the shoe. The D90 contact is slightly recessed. I think if the CST contact protruded a tiny bit more and had spring in it that I'd be able to fire it from the D90.

If the contact is not springy, then we will need to swap that out for you. Call or email custoemr service, and they will be able to arrange for that.
