the grid goes over top of the diffuser or the other way around?

also will the HOBD fit the Einstein lighting system and does it come with a case?

Well, you pretty much use one or the other, not both at the same time.

But for storage, or carrying to location, I suppose, you could mount them both. The grid fits snugly inside the rim of the dish, and the diffuser "sock" pulls on over the outside rim. I kept the boxes the grids came in, though, for storage and transport.

you can mount a grid over the sock for narrow beam spread without a lot of specularity (silver BD). The fit is rather tight this way, and it will likely wear on the sock. Putting a sock over a grid is counter productive to using the grid.

interesting--hadn't thought of that. 'course, I have the white BD, so putting a grid over the sock would likely do nothing more than lower efficiency...

Speakin' of grids for the BD, does anyone else here have any trouble removing the 15deg one? Mine ALWAYS takes the strength of 10 men to remove and the rivets from the release tab are really digging into the metal of the dish (the inner lip looks like it got into a steel-clawed catfight). The release tab's close to breaking off. My other 30deg. seems perfect and easy to remove. Basically, I end of having to remove the grid from the inside out, but it makes it impossible to remove if the light blocker is installed while the dish is mounted on a light with them Rambo-bands. I've also noticed that the two little pressure clips are curved instead of straight like my 30deg. (and are waaaay harder to bend into place). I've tried straightening them out a bit as well as filing down on the release tab's rivets to almost surface-level (the steel ones) Don't know if the shape of the grid/dish may be irregular (doubtful) or what? Would rather try to fix it than send it back. I'm stumped for the night, any ideas :?

you can check to see if the grid (or dish) is out of round. By placing the grid over the dish, you can see if there is a bigger gap on some sides vs. the others.

The gaps seem pretty consistent across (the exception being the area with the pressure clips, of course). Guess I'll keep trying to flatten the clips some more to relax the grip...
