Kindly forgive me for being a little slow on this.

I have three v1 Einstein lights from my first order that I received in August. I also have three more Einsteins (v2) from my second order that arrived yesterday with the black rubber bands. That's a total of six. So, if I understand correctly, all six of these units will be swapped in the near future for a version 3? (No criticism intended or implied; I think these are excellent lights. I simply want to understand what I can expect.) Thank you.

I would not go so far as to call it a V3. The only modification will be a tweak to the fingers and cam. Contrast that to the V1 to V2, there was a whole new a new front end (which altered ariflow and cooling), new back end, and new power supply (lots of internal rework). Really, the naming is semantics as the versions will not be part of the official nomenclature. No matter what you call it, you will be eligble for corrective actions, likely by a direct exchange.

I have 4 V1 units, and am perfectly happy to wait until the V2+finger/cam fixes are in production to do the exchange. How do I go about that, when the time comes--just contact CS and ask, or does CS contact me when the production volume/backorder levels are more conducive to replacement?

Also, just a no-pressure question: If I wanted to order an Einstein for a Christmas gift, is there any chance it would arrive in time? Not sure what the estimate for newly placed orders today would be. No worries, my brother's birthday is in July, so hopefully all will be settled into routine order/shipment well before then :-) He can wait!
